Rays of Sunshine was founded by high school students from Mechanicsburg, PA, in 2022 to find a unique way to contribute to our community.
The 2025-2026 leadership committee members of Rays of Sunshine are Rachel Shipley, Benjamin Shipley, Ava Lyijynen, and Alaina Veliuona. Passed down from the founders Anishka and Arav Goel, we are excited to take over the nonprofit as they go off to college. We want to carry on the nonprofit the way that Anishka and Arav intended by continuing to create home-cooked meals and cards for patients.
Some of the past activities include:
Creating comfort by providing home cooked meals prepared with love and care for patients.
Sharing love by crafting home made cards for patients.
Raising awareness by hosting fundraising events to help us expand our reach.
Engaging hearts by expanding volunteer membership.
Our current membership has grown beyond the Mechanicsburg area in 2025 to include students from the Cumberland Valley and Redland school districts.
In the upcoming year, our mission is to further expand our aide to other areas of hospice need.
